You are probably all wondering when we are actually going to leave for the big trip! We understand this, but need to be as honest as we can about our plans. As we are focussing on getting the boat ready for the open sea we discover things here and there that need to be taking care of as well. So giving a hard date of when it'll all be done is next to impossible. But we are getting there and we want to share our general plans with you! This discussion will be updated regularly as we will have more information about the trips and dates!
Right now it is no use leaving Denmark, for one because the boat is not ready yet for a big sailing trip and secondly, the weather is not great for going either South or North. So, this witer we will be saying in Denmark, working on the boat (for updates about this, check the other discussion 'SV Labora Maintenance Updates'). What we would like, is to leave around springtime, hopefully March. But then again, nothing is for sure yet.
Our first sailing will probably be from Denmark to England. From there we could go South, down the coast of Spain and Portugal, or we might go North in the direction of Iceland and Greenland. Here will have to make some decisions on the time of the year, the weather and the particular project we choose to precede on. Let us know what you think!
For a big crossing or heading up North in the spring to the arctic we need to have a group of club members that would have some interest in this type of trip. Please contact us about this and we can put some ideas together!
